The Pill Popping Hypocrisy of Lowell Hubbs

Quite some time ago, a frequent visitor to this site sent me a URL to a Yahoo discussion group where Mr. Hubbs has posted in the past.  Aside from some of the rather interesting statements made by Mr. Hubbs, what is even more interesting is how once again we find evidence proving that although Mr. Hubbs claims to be anti-big pharma (anti pharmaceutical company), he is more than willing to use their products when he feels they may benefit him.

He have witnessed this same pattern of hypocritical behavior with Mr. Hubbs' usage of Paxil and Xanax.  We have also seen it with Mr. Hubbs' use of Alprazolam, and he has also mentioned using Klonopin in the past.  Although Mr. Hubbs admits those drugs were all prescribed for specific reasons and he attempts to defend their usage, it doesn't change the fact that he is more than willing to use the products from the very same companies he claims are responsible for conspiring to keep people sick and dependent upon medications.

Therefore, it really isn't a surprise that Mr. Hubbs has been shown to use yet another product of "big pharma", nor is it a surprise to discover Mr. Hubbs claims to have specific side effects that include rage and violent behavior.  This time around, the drug of choice is Dostinex which Mr. Hubbs seems to have admitted taking for quite some time.  Dostinex has a variety of uses so I won't even speculate what condition Mr. Hubbs was or is attempting to address here, but what is interesting is some of Mr. Hubbs' statements surrounding the side effects he has experienced while taking the drug:

"What Im talking about is temper flare ups increased due to Dostinex, not the drug reducing that as prolactin went down. That has occasionally been seen in previous posts Ive read on another site; and I just have no question its had similar affect on me. I have benefited from Dosinex as it has rebalanced prolcatin and testosterone the typical previous high low ratio..."  ~Lowell Hubbs

So Mr. Hubbs admits to having temper flare ups?  Who would have guessed?  However it doesn't stop there:

"[...] I'm on three times as much Dostinex as you. .75 twice a week. I go from calm to wanting to throw things; and impatient isnt even the word; rage is more like it; very scarey. That drug quite honestly has an effect on sex drive that is something more than just testosterone levels going up. Ive heard that also posted. Because in all honesty, even when they went up to just below normal things started raging like I had the testosterone levels of a 17 year old and Im 48."  ~Lowell Hubbs

Once again we see Mr. Hubbs admitting violent behavior, although based upon his previous pattern of behavior I'm quite certain he will continue to blame his medications rather than accepting responsibility.  If that is the case however, how can Mr. Hubbs explain the fact that he continues to display these same characteristics time and time again right on this very blog?  If it isn't Mr. Hubbs making direct threats against those who disagree with him, it is Mr. Hubbs displaying Internet Toughguy Syndrome.  Even casual visitors to this blog have noticed the rage and anger displayed in many of Mr. Hubbs' comments... and even worse are those I am unable to publish due to their non-PG content.

As much as Mr. Hubbs' rage is a problem, I'm actually more concerned about him rambling on about his sex drive.  Normally I wouldn't have an issue with someone explaining increased virility, but when it comes from a man who has made questionable statements about young girls and who has on numerous occasions submitted pornography laced messages to this very blog... well I would be lying if I said it isn't concerning.

Those issues aside, as we see in this next quote Mr. Hubbs also feels he is qualified to discuss pharmacology and even includes the obligatory statement asking others to prove him wrong rather than him bothering to prove he is right.  Once again he displays a complete misunderstanding of how the scientific method works... but this shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who knows Mr. Hubbs.

... "So, my guess would be exactly this with Dostinex in your system possibly we dont produce enough natural dopamine which is one of the needed feel good chemicals the brain has. I defy and doctor to dispute it; or come up with a study, or any medical teaching proving Im wrong. Thats why we feel like we do and have no patience. I am on .75 mg twice a week."  ~Lowell Hubbs

Finally, we have Mr. Hubbs admitting other side effects he claims are due to the Dostinex.  These appear to include a short temper, inability to deal with stress (which relates to the anxiety Mr. Hubbs has taken other medications for), and he even admits to being defiant and hostile:

... "if anything my ability to deal with stress on Dostinex is worse and I am short tempered and tough, become very defiant and hostile, yet I can get very emotional and nearly in tears over the littlest things"...  ~Lowell Hubbs

I'm not about to claim I know whether these side effects are due to Dostinex or due to some other supplement or series of medications that Mr. Hubbs may be taking at any given point.  For all I know, the hostility and rage that Mr. Hubbs describes may be part of his core personality and he is just looking for some random drug to blame for his actions.

We have witnessed in the past that Mr. Hubbs has refused to accept responsibility for his multiple DUIs.  We have also seen that he has various excuses for his arrests for theft and for shoplifting.  Essentially it seems that Mr. Hubbs is never willing to accept responsibility for anything, and he is always looking for someone or something else to blame for his actions.  Maybe in the past it was Paxil, then later it was Dostinex.  Other times it is a combination of Xanax and alcohol, and sometimes it may be to anti-anxiety herbs mixed with alcohol... but the repeating pattern here seems to be that it is never Mr. Hubbs' fault.

Never mind the blatant hypocrisy involved from Mr. Anti-Big Pharma himself taking numerous prescription medications while continually attacking big pharma... the question remains: if Dostinex does in fact cause side effects of rage and hostility... does that help explain a lot of what we have witnessed from him right on this very blog?  If on the other hand he is no longer on the Dostinex, then what other excuse could he possibly have for his actions? 

Either Mr. Hubbs is still on the Dostinex (which makes him a raging hypocrite), or he is no longer on it and therefore has nobody to blame for his continual fits of rage, hatred, and ever-increasing hostile behavior.  One also has to wonder... if Mr. Hubbs is no longer on the Dostinex, does that mean modern medicine cured whatever condition he was being treated for? 

Being an anti-big pharma and anti-modern medicine vaccine conspiracy theorist just seems to be a lot easier if you are a hypocrite.

More Legal Problems for Mr. Hubbs

We have discussed some of Mr. Hubbs legal problems in the past to show how Mr. Hubbs seems to have a split personality.  One one hand he proclaims that "big pharma" is evil and that all drugs as well as vaccines are harmful, but on the other hand he seems to have no issue with taking (and abusing) multiple prescription medications nor does he have an issue with "self-medicating" with massive amounts of alcohol.

Does that seem a tad harsh for me to accuse Mr. Hubbs of self-medicating?  It might if but for the fact that Mr. Hubbs used those very words himself.  In fact, Mr. Hubbs was actually quoted as saying his DUIs were a result of him "self medicating [his] anxiety disorder".

So when the law finally caught up with Mr. Hubbs and arrested him for multiple DUIs, did that turn him around and help him pull his life together?  Did Mr. Hubbs admit fault and accept responsibilities for his actions?  Not exactly... he merely blamed his behavior on his need to self-medicate.

Ask any alcoholic or addict and they will give you a laundry list of excuses on why they do what they do, so when Mr. Hubbs says he was self-medicating his anxiety disorder it doesn't really shock me in the slightest, especially when such an excuse comes from a hypocrite.

It appears there is a pattern of behavior emerging with Mr. Hubbs, and it doesn't end with alcohol abuse alone.  In fact, several years ago Mr. Hubbs was arrested for shoplifting nutritional supplements from Shopko, and it appears this wasn't his first incident of shoplifting.  Case in point:

"I was arrested for shoplifting nutritional supplements; which had become a compulsion; I just got more daring and brave, with each time I got away with it." ~ Lowell Hubbs

So based upon Mr. Hubbs own admission he had a "compulsion" for shoplifting which continued right up until the point he was apprehended by a Shopko loss prevention manager and handed over to the police.  So when Mr. Hubbs was caught shoplifting do you think he finally took this as an opportunity to admit fault and to change his lifestyle?  No... instead - he blamed his actions upon his prescribed medications (namely Paxil and Alprazolam).

That might not seem like such a huge stretch since people do often have strange side effects from prescriptions especially when mixed with alcohol, and considering Mr. Hubbs track record with alcohol consumption and his admitted reliance upon alcohol for "self-medication" purposes... who knows what the impact might be.  However, Paxil warning information specifically states to avoid taking it with alcohol, and since I doubt Mr. Hubbs was ever prescribed a 12 oz. can of Budweiser along with his daily dose of Paxil, we can once again clearly state that Mr. Hubbs has no one to blame for his legal troubles other than himself.

Even more shocking is the fact that several weeks prior to his apprehension for shoplifting, Mr. Hubbs was arrested for stealing a bicycle.  The irony is thick with this one since Mr. Hubbs has been known to accuse others of stealing his bikes, so aside from the obviously and oh-so-apparent karma, it would seem that once again Mr. Hubbs is nothing other than a hypocrite.  A self-medicating felon of a hypocrite, but a hypocrite nevertheless.

So what was Mr. Hubbs' excuse when he was arrested for stealing the bike?  You guessed it... he stood right in front of a judge and had his lawyer state that his medication had been prescribed improperly.  He didn't accept responsibility for his actions and obviously didn't learn from the experience considering he was shoplifting a few short weeks later.

In yet another example of how Mr. Hubbs refuses to accept responsibility for his actions, rather than admitting his mistake and learning from it, he actually complained that the punishment far exceeded the crime itself when he made the following statement:

"For a $15 bike, it cost me 10 days in jail, $300 some odd dollars in fines and jail costs, and several hundred for my attorney" ~ Lowell Hubbs

Even through all of that, Mr. Lowell Hubbs never learned a lesson.  He never admitted fault, he never turned his life around, and he continued to abuse prescription drugs combined with alcohol.  How do I know this?  Simple... in the following years after the events described above, Mr. Hubbs was arrested, charged and convicted of two more DUIs.  I guess some people are just really slow learners.

So of course like any good recovering addict would do, Mr. Hubbs finally decided it was time to face his demons.  He was finally determined to find the root cause of all his troubles and address it head on.  He was going to make life changes, accept responsibility for his actions, turn his life around and finally improve his situation.  Oh wait... that is what a normal person would have done, and if you know Lowell Hubbs he is far from a normal person.

So what did Mr. Hubbs really do?  Well, he did what any good addict with an extensive criminal record does - he sued the makers of Paxil!

The case is Bauerle et al v. Smithkline Beecham Corporation and the lead case is 4:04-cv-04187-LLP.  A certain Lowell Hubbs at 400 S. Prairie #9 Sioux Falls, SD 57104 was listed in that case as well and was represented by none other than A. Russell Janklow.

Eventually the case was transferred in 2005 and rolled into a larger case against the makers of Paxil.  The case then became Lesli Hamilton, et al. vs Glaxosmithkline, Inc. with the lead case being 2:03-ml-01574-MRP.  I won't bore you with the details, but here is a brief summary of the result:

JOINT STIPULATION AND ORDER DISMISSING WITH PREJUDICE CLAIMS OF IDENTIFIED PLAINTIFFS by Judge Mariana R. Pfaelzer: Plaintiffs listed below hereby dismiss with prejudice all of their claims against Defendant regarding its drug Paxil: (1) Rose M Bauerle; (2) Lowell Kevin Hubbs; (3) Dean Dorian Price; (4) Chad Jon Singsaas; (5) Lisa Lindner Sweeney-Nicol; (6) Kimberly Winger. Each party to bear their own costs, pursuant to FRCP 41(a). This Document Relates to Bauerle 2:05-cv-02185 MRP (CWx).(bg, ) (Entered: 12/27/2006)

So long story short, the case was settled in late 2006.  I won't bother to post the entire 26 page legal brief (although I can email it upon request), but basically it appears there was some form of settlement between Mr. Hubbs (including the other plaintiffs) and Glaxosmithkline (GSK).  So what does Mr. Hubbs have to say about all of this?  Read for yourself:

"We walked away six years later with an out of court settlement, and an across the board GSK denial, and about $20,000 each; (minus the law firms cut)." ~ Lowell Hubbs

Now keep in mind that the lawsuit was based upon the claim that Paxil caused addiction, but there was never anything in any of the testimony or court records to suggest that Paxil causes people to steal bikes from behind Casinos or to self-medicate with massive amounts of alcohol or to drive while intoxicated or to mix alcohol with anti-depressants or to go on shoplifting sprees just because they feel like it.

Mr. Hubbs is simply the type of person who will always look elsewhere when it comes time to determine who is to blame for his own issues.  It is always the fault of someone else or a side effect of a drug he took.  His four convictions for driving under the influence weren't his fault, nor was the shoplifting or theft.  This is why Lowell Hubbs has become the anti-mainstream medicine zealot he has become.  This is why he continually blames "big pharma" for anything and everything and why he has a personal vendetta against modern medicine and pharmaceuticals.

The fact is, Mr. Hubbs' continual legal problems were never caused by a drug company or a retail store.  They were never caused by a pill or a vaccine.  They were never the fault of a police officer, loss prevention agent, or warden nor were they the result of omitted warning labels.  Mr. Hubbs legal problems have always been caused by one thing and one thing alone - Mr. Hubbs himself.

So the next time you witness Mr. Hubbs rail against modern medicine or against "big pharma", just remember this whole illusion is based upon the precept that Mr. Hubbs believes he is not responsible for his own actions.  That makes perfect sense if you are the type who believes in government mind control or 9/11 conspiracy theories, so it stands to reason Mr. Hubbs would believe it.

But hey... there is some good news to be taken from all of this.  Due to Mr. Hubbs' financial settlement with GSK he can afford to buy his own bikes for a change instead of stealing them from others.

The Self-Medicating Mind of Lowell Hubbs

Mr. Hubbs has proven himself to be the true "anti-medical establishment" man, as he finds fault in modern medicine, the AMA, the CDC, the FDA, "big pharma", vaccines, medical journals, the scientific process, basic accepted knowledge such as herd immunity and germ theory, and pretty much everything else associated with modern medicine.

So as we have discussed in the past, it seems slightly a bit odd that Mr. Hubbs himself has relied upon numerous prescription medications throughout his adult life.  Thus far, Mr. Hubbs has admitted to taking Xanax, Paxil, and Alprazolam among others, and it is safe to say during his lifetime he has relied upon antibiotics, pain relievers, and numerous other products that he claims to find so much fault in.  He has also admitted to being addicted to several of these medications and he has admitted to mixing the various medications with alcohol as well as over-the-counter supplements.

Don't take my word for it though... below are just a few of the quotes where Mr. Hubbs has admitted his reliance upon prescriptions:

"The first 6 months I took Paxil, it seemed to work well for the stress related anxiety I was prescribed for."


"I have been on Paxil for 8 months; which is of course similar to Prozac. No one told me I would know what I do know I when to my doctor for stress related anxiety and anxiety/panic attacks. I was first put on Xanax, then later Paxil."


"... go get myself hooked on more Xanax"


"I asked for Xanax to be re prescribed, to help me sleep, and get through withdrawal [of Paxil]."


"Two months later I was essentially on a not so planned, but planned suicide mission of combining Paxil, Alprazolam, and alcohol."


"I went on another mission to get entirely messed up on Paxil, Alprazolam, anti-anxiety herbs, and alcohol."  ~Lowell Hubbs

There are more of course, but I think you get the idea.  Of course as always Mr. Hubbs is full of excuses on why it is ok for him to take these medications and he will try to proclaim that he no longer takes them due to the side effects, but as we have shown in the past Mr. Hubbs isn't exactly a trustworthy figure.  He has been shown to be a hypocrite on numerous occasions, proven to be a felon, and even displayed as a shill who tries to post under multiple usernames online in order to make people believe there is more than one ignorant soul who thinks the way he does.

The fact is, Mr. Hubbs acts one way when he wants people to believe he is against "big pharma" and all they stand for, but he acts an entirely different way when he is sitting in the doctor's office or standing in line at Walmart awaiting another prescription refill.  Mr. Hubbs isn't the only anti-vaxer guilty of hypocrisy in such a manner, but in the case of Mr. Hubbs there is a larger issue at stake.

Let's pretend for a second that Mr. Hubbs is telling the truth when he suggests he is no longer taking any prescription medications whatsoever.  If that is true, how is he dealing with his "stress related anxiety and anxiety/panic attacks" or how is he dealing with his anger issues?  Mental disease is much like any other physical disease... if you don't treat the issue it will continue to get worse and worse with time.

Is it possible that is what has been happening to Mr. Hubbs?  Is it possible that his increasing level of lunacy displayed by his posts and comments is a result of a mental break?  I can't really say for sure, since unlike Lowell's friend Andy Moulden, I can't diagnose someone based upon an Internet posting or a photograph, but I would suggest to Mr. Hubbs that he seeks the services of a qualified and licensed mental health professional at the earliest convenience. 

Something tells me that will not happen however... not until chiropractors figure out a way to start convincing ignorant fools that they can treat depression and stress related anxiety by aligning the spine or cracking a  few bones.  If that is ever the case, rest assured Mr. Hubbs will be the first in line to get an "adjustment".

It does sort of make me wonder - if Mr. Hubbs is so anti-"big pharma" what would he do if he came down with a severe case of pneumonia or if he had a severe kidney infection?  Would he go to his doctor in hopes of obtaining a presciption for some antibiotics which he would need to hide from all of his fellow anti-vaxers, or would he run down to the local health food store or perhaps visit the website of one of the many anti-vaxers who sell supplements for anything and everything that can go wrong with the human body in hopes they might have something that could help him? 

When it really comes down to it I'm fairly certain Mr. Hubbs would gladly seek the services of a real medical doctor, which just goes to show how time after time the very same people who point fingers and place blame at "big pharma" are very quick to extend the olive branch during their times of need.

Lowell Hubbs: Self-Medicating Criminal

Once you get to know Lowell Hubbs, you soon realize something is not quite right with the man.  Lowell is the type of guy who is against pretty much everything associated with modern medicine, science, the government, capitalism, and common sense.  We have already established the fact that Mr. Hubbs has been an admitted user of multiple medications including both Paxil and Xanax, but now he claims modern medicine has nothing to offer and he rallies against all mainstream medicine and pharmaceuticals .

So what does Mr. Hubbs use as a mood stabilizer now that he has sworn off prescription drugs to solve his admitted psychological problems?  You guessed it - man's oldest and most trusted substance for self-medicating... alcohol.

It appears Mr. Hubbs feels pills are evil, but alcohol is perfectly healthy.  So much so in fact, that Mr. Hubbs seems to have developed a little issue with alcoholism.  How else would you explain Mr. Hubbs' not one, not two, not three - but FOUR arrests for DUI in the state of South Dakota alone!

Now I'm the first to admit people make mistakes, and nobody (myself included) is perfect.  Many people have stepped behind the wheel when they have had a bit too much to drink, and many of these people are never caught.  However, if you drive drunk long enough and often enough, eventually law enforcement will catch up to you and you will be arrested for DUI.   

For most people, that is where the story ends.  A person of even moderate intelligence will use their DUI arrest as a learning experience.  They will start arranging to have a designated driver available to them, they might call a friend or a cab when they need a ride, or they will limit their intake of alcohol to ensure they are not under the influence when they do decide to grab the car keys.  However, apparently that lesson wasn't easy for Lowell Hubbs to learn, because soon after his first arrest he was arrested and charged with his second DUI.

Ok so surely the second DUI is a bit more harsh.  A person can expect to spend some time behind bars, and a hefty fine along with having their license revoked for at least a short time.  Surely this would send such a strong message that a person would never even remotely consider driving under the influence again right?

Well if your name is Lowell Kevin Hubbs, you are obviously a slow learner, because even the second arrest and conviction was not enough to teach him a lesson.  Thus, once again Lowell found himself in handcuffs arrested for his third DUI in the state of South Dakota, and once again Lowell found himself behind bars after his conviction.

Now I won't claim to be an expert, but it seems Mr. Hubbs has a hard time with the concept of cause and effect.  However, since we can't all be rocket scientists, doctors, or even intelligent enough to understand the consequences of drinking and driving, maybe it just takes a bit longer for some people.  Maybe the third time really is the charm for Mr. Hubbs and maybe he will finally turn his life around.

Unfortunately for the other drivers who use the streets and highways in the state of South Dakota, Mr. Hubbs did not learn his lesson.  Sure enough, on October 2005 Mr. Hubbs was arrested once again for driving under the influence of his favorite medication (alcohol).  Once again Mr. Hubbs found himself in front of a judge, and once again he was convicted of the crime.

However, as this was his fourth known offense in South Dakota (it is quite possible he has charges in other states which were not reported as part of his latest arrest) this time Mr. Hubbs was going to be serving time in the South Dakota State Penitentiary for his crimes.  Thus, on March 21st, 2006 Mr. Hubbs was given a five year sentence in the big house with 18 months suspended, and once he was once again a free man he would be unable to have a drivers license for two years.

The fact that Mr. Hubbs has at least four convictions for DUI is not what is upsetting.  Simple logic dictates for every arrest Mr. Hubbs was involved in, he probably drove drunk dozens upon dozens of times where he wasn't caught.  Thus for all of the concern about others that Mr. Hubbs seems to profess, when it comes to his addictions all of those concerns go out the window.  To Mr. Hubbs, the convenience of him driving home is much more important than the safety or lives of other drivers or pedestrians around him, and as such he continued to drive drunk time and time again.

Of course Mr. Hubbs wasn't one to accept his fate, so in October 2009 he felt the need to waste the courts time by filing a writ of habeus corpus against the warden of the South Dakota State Penitentiary.  Granted his request was dismissed, but it serves as evidence that Mr. Hubbs is not the type of man who accepts responsibility for his actions, and obviously the type of man who is a very, very slow learner.

Thus, it can be only assumed that in time we will see yet another arrest for Mr. Hubbs as he clearly is unable to break away from the all-consuming power of his favorite elixir.  It seems although he is able to rally against pharmaceuticals and legal prescriptions, he has no trouble at all drinking a known depressant even though he has relied upon anti-depressants in the past.  Is it any wonder this man is so confused about the world around him when he cannot even break his grasp upon the bottle which has consumed so much of his life?

Now it should be noted that Mr. Hubbs will attempt to deny these facts and refuses to acknowledge his substance abuse issues because even he understands it has a detrimental impact to his already tarnished reputation and it all but destroys any shred of credibility he once had.  Thus it is necessary to display the following documents which prove all of these statements to be true and which prove once and for all that Mr. Hubbs is nothing but a convicted criminal, a fraud, and a proven alcoholic who cares about no one other than himself and his own pleasure.

Lowell's Inability to Formulate a Coherent Thought...

 

Would you take medical advice from this man?


I must admit I take a great deal of pleasure in writing about Lowell as he is quite an entertaining character.  I have read much of what he has written and even though I know I shouldn't waste my time with a conspiracy theorist, it is somewhat like a train wreck and I just feel the need to watch.

However, one thing I have noticed is Lowell doesn't handle criticism very well.  In fact, when faced with such criticism, Lowell often resorts to making threats of violence against those who disagree with him or those who use science to discredit him. 

Case in a point, here is a quote from Lowell showing how well he handles his "Internet fame":

"You are pretty gutsy posting an assinine [sic] blog like that on and about me; you just maybe should start thinking about watching your back!!!"  - Lowell Hubbs

Now it should be noted that Lowell has posted numerous comments on this very blog in response to several of my posts.  Of course when I viewed the comments, Google had actually flagged the vast majority of them as spam and therefore removed them from view.  One has to find the humor in the fact that even an automated comment detection software sees Lowell for what he really is: a spammer.

Unfortunately for Lowell, this isn't a public forum and this is my blog.  I'm not going to restore his comments because frankly I have to agree with Google that the vast majority of his comments are spam.  In fact, it appears Lowell simply posted the same exact comments several times, and each time Google rejected his comments.  An intelligent person would probably learn their lesson, but nobody ever claimed Lowell was intelligent.

In any case, it appears based upon his comments Lowell feels he knows me somehow.  Thankfully for me, I have never met Lowell so I'm not sure who he is referring to, but it does appear he has made a lot of friends on his quest, so I'll let him believe whatever it is he chooses to believe.  I'm not about to give him my name however, nor will I offer any personal details about my chosen profession, nor will I offer to meet and "debate" Mr. Hubbs as based upon what I've learned of him thus far, the man is most certainly mentally unstable and has displayed levels of rage and anger on numerous occasions which suggests people would be well served to keep their distance.

I'm guessing it was a bad thing that Lowell stopped taking his Xanax and Paxil, because at this point it seems clear he needs the help of pharmaceuticals as well as a trained mental health professional.  Unfortunately for Lowell, supplements from the local health food store and adjustments from a back-cracker aren't going to get the job done.

Lowell Admits He Has Relied Upon Prescriptions!

One may think with all of Lowell's medical "knowledge" and "expertise" that he should be able to solve any medical issue with natural therapies, alternative medicine, supplements, proper diet, or the occasional "spinal adjustment" from his local Chiropractor, but yet it seems Lowell has himself realized that in some cases pharmaceuticals are beneficial.

Case in point, if you read the following blog entries written by Mr. Hubbs, you can clearly see he has admitted to taking prescription Paxil.

"Lowell Hubbs - I seen the Paxil commercials, and was on another prescription drug, and I asked to be swithched to Paxil. I never questioned if Paxil was addictive, was told nothing by my doctor. Reading pharmacy and drug book information, did not say anything about it being habit-forming, nor addictive. After a few months on the drug, I tried going off, cold turkey, and the result was electric zaps throughout my body, mostly my arms and legs, and a strange whoosh-like sound in my head, that every time I moved; it felt like some sort of seizure of brief but repeatative nature. Memory is terrible; that and extreme fatigue, now that I have tapered the dosage to 10 mgs; I am scared of going to 5mgs. I will know later how that turns out. Paxil is a terrrible drug-that I never would have taken, had I known the truth. It is beyond human comprehension, how such lies can be perpetrated on such a large number of people across this entire country; and all in the name of wrongful profit. - S. D."

A few points to take from this admission.  First, Lowell admits he was on another prescription before asking his Doctor to prescribe Paxil.  Thus we know two things.  Number one, Lowell depends upon drugs to solve problems because even he has learned from experience that alternative medicine can't cure everything.

Number two, Lowell seeks the medical advice and guidance of a real medical doctor.  We know this because he admitted it, and the fact that Chiropractors and health food store employees are not able to write prescriptions.

It is also interesting to note that Lowell reports a "strange whoosh-like sound in [his] head".  Of course anyone who has ever met Lowell can tell you that is most likely the result of logic and common sense passing directly in to one ear and out the other, but to Lowell this is a symptom.

Makes you wonder if Lowell took another drug to solve that issue doesn't it?

So how about Lowell's next admission:

"Lowell Hubbs - I think the greatest disservice GSK did, was to falsely claim only drug addicts and the like, could get hooked on, or for only such poeple could paxil become habit forming? So, all these people having signed this petion, are drug addicts? For one, I am not! The first 6 months I took Paxil, it seemed to work well for the stress related anxiety I was prescribed for. the TV comercials bragged it up as good for such a condition, and being non habit forming; LIERS!!! My doctor never informed me of severe withdrawal I may experiance, or when I should get off the drug, basically prescribed more sample, by phoning his nurses. After six months, I tried to go off cold turkey; after four days had severe shock waves in my brain, body, and up and down my legs. Zapping was so severe, I could hardly hold my eyes open; to sit still, with your eyes shut was the best. Paxil; non habit forming??? I then went back on 20mg. and proceeded down to 10, 5, and the 0. over 4 months time; each step was hell; with more of the same, no sleep, just nightmares, migraines I never had before. Each step down, after a couple days, I had to return to the previous dosage, and start over back down, because the brainzapping/ body pulsing, and near inability to function and concentrate, were gone; I could not stay at work, without more drug. I was continually late for work; could not wake up; was no exhausted. I nearly lost my job. now after 4 months I am off Paxil for 20 days; and still from time to time I am getting brain zaps and whooshing sounds in my ears and head; at time it feels like someone pumped my head full of air; my balance and coordination are off- to the point it is hard to work, also. When I read the article on the 3 part article on the pineal gland, on www. antidepressants facts .com, it is clear that Paxil causes brain damage, thanks so much, GSK, and being Paxil has such a short half life, about 4 days, it seems; these results of my experiance can be looked at as nothong but possible brain damage, my brain is still trying to find ways to compensate for. Now, after 20 days, I am developing sever panic attackson awaking in the morning, that I had not before. What do I do now; go get myself hooked on more Xanax? I believe all SSRI drugs are dangerous; and Paxil is the worst. What about the violent anger,and frustration this drug produces?This is a treatment that makes people better able to function in life? It is biggest lie ever told; for profit of the already rich, to get richer! GSK, I hope that when all the lawsuits are completed, you no longer exist, to harm anyone else; it can not come soon enough! GSK, feel free to email me at cornfieldmn@yahoo.com, and that with any appoligy you have the balls to make! Again I ask you in top management to please take your own poison, for 6 months, an then go off cold turkey; or even wean off slowly, maybe you would have an attitude adjustment!!! So here we learn even more about Mr. Hubbs.  We learn he was diagnosed with "stress related anxiety" and that he was more that willing to take pills so solve this issue.  Mr. Hubbs also admits he took Paxil for at least six months with no negative effects.

So when Lowell starts experiencing symptoms, does he question what might be causing them?  No, instead he jumps on the anti-pharmaceutical bandwagon and assumes everything that is wrong with him is due to some miracle pill he is taking.  However what Lowell fails to understand is SSRIs such as Paxil build up in the system to a maximum level within four to six weeks.  So if the drug was really responsible for everything Lowell claims, why did he have no issues for six months?

Thankfully we have Lowell's own admission that Paxil causes brain damage which might actually have some merit to it because based upon my interactions with Lowell it would seem quite obvious even to a casual observer than the man does in fact suffer from brain damage.  Granted the brain damage may have occurred from all of his years being dependent upon the bottle (a trail of DUIs and extended prison time is evidence enough of that), or it might be a result of "self-medicating" with non-legal drugs of his choosing.  With Lowell anything is possible.

It also appears that Lowell has experience with Xanax, which tells us once again that he is a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of guy.  Bear in mind he admits he has experienced "violent anger" as well, but what more can you expect from a man who can't rely upon his brain to fight his battles?
